Healthy Tips for You and Your SweetHEART

Whether you’re one of those people who goes all ga-ga for Valentine’s Day or you’re the type that thinks it’s nothing but commercialism at it’s best, there’s something that makes us think about our sweetheart a little more this time of year! Sure you can try and find the biggest box of chocolates or fill an entire room with flowers, but here are a few ideas what will benefit you far beyond February!
Eat Well
Everyone knows that the way to the heart is through the stomach. Why not cook a heart-healthy meal together? Spice things up with one of my favorite recipes such as this Tom Kah Soup. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and spicy and contains our obvious choice, tofu! Tofu is packed isoflavones, which helps to reduce bad cholestorol, it’s also packed with calcium, magnesium and potassium! All those big words mean nothing but good things for that pumper of yours!
Get Active
They say the couple who sweats together, stays together, right? It’s no secret that getting active is good for your heart, but it’s also great for your relationship! There are so many things that you could do with your beloved to get the heart pumping... outside of the bedroom. Start small with a nice stroll around a park. Get a little more adventurous with a few hours of ice skating at your local ice rink. Do you both have a competitive streak? Sign up for a community kickball team or something even more challenging like a Tough Mudder competition!
Be Kind
Sure it’s great to show your love to one another but why not spread the love around? Do some research and check out the volunteer options in your area. It’s an awesome way to spend some quality time together and give back to the community. It can be anything from volunteering at an animal shelter, helping out at a fundraiser, or even clean up a local park. Check out volunteermatch.org for even more ideas!
