Chocolate Lava Cake Fake-Outs

So The Mr.'s favorite dessert is Chocolate Lava Cake, and let's be honest, who can blame him! It's sweet, warm, delicious...he obviously has the same preference in desserts as he does in women ;-)

Since I don't have the patience to make the real deal ( as some of you may know, I don't boast my baking abilities... because they are pretty nil ) I tried a simpler concoction. My experiment was a smashing success! Here's the recipe for you to try!

Ingredients:
1 box of Devil's Food cake mix
1 c Chocolate Chips
1 c Caramel Dip
1 tsp Sea Salt (I used Hepp's Pink Sea Salt)
Cooking Spray
Cupcake Pan

See quick video instructions here - http://vine.co/v/brvO65iFezl

Preheat oven to 350.

Prepare cake mix as instructed on the box.

Spray cupcake pan with cooking spray, spoon in about 1 tablespoon of batter into each cupcake section. Bake for about 3-5 minutes. Take out of oven and add chocolate chips to the middle of the cakes then top with another spoonful of batter and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Remember, you WANT the inside to be gooey.

While the cakes are on their last round in the oven, heat caramel dip or melt down caramel candies until thinned out. Remove cakes from oven, place upside down on serving plate, pour as much caramel over the top that you would like and sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top!

This recipe makes about 24 cakes. Use larger cupcake pans if you'd like, just remember to fill with more chocolate chips!
