The Oscars are upon us, and I am ready for some serious fashion eye candy! (Is there a reason to watch beyond simply swooning over the gowns gracing the red carpet?) Although I would love to slip into an Oscar-worthy gown each day, practicality unfortunately wins out and gets in the way. This doesn’t mean that a girl can’t take a little inspiration from the red carpet for her everyday style. Here are some lessons that can be learned from last year’s best dressed ladies:
Here’s how to incorporate some red carpet looks into your
everyday style with a sprinkle of glam.
Lady in red: the siren wearing sultry red always make an appearance on the red carpet year after year. Add a little spice to your look a la Michelle Williams.
Look fierce and daytime appropriate wearing red below the belt. Red pants paired with a fur vest are both chic and casual at once.
Which brings me to…Peplum: I have a sneaky suspicion that peplum is here to stay (at least for another season). Tina Fey shone in Carolina Herrera this ladylike silhouette last year.
A crisp white jacket over a peplum dress is the parfait way
to accentuate your waist. Draw some attention to your face with a gorgeous
statement necklace to complete the look!
Fit to be tied: Emma Stone rocked a huge bow last year, and if you have seen Kate Spade’s Fall presentation at Fashion Week, you know bows are going to be BIG.
Don’t be afraid to wear a bold bow (don’t forget bows on
your toes!).
Winter white: Add a red lip, and you have achieved instant old Hollywood glamour. Mila Jovovich shows us how to execute winter white to perfection…some sparkle, a bold lip, and white done right.
Don’t deprive your white desires before Memorial Day
comes…wear winter white and gleam in elegance. A little shimmer takes this look
to the next level.
Are you dying to see the gowns that turn up on the red carpet this year? I’ll be watching in a pair of my favorite heels with a champagne flute in my hand! XX
Thank you SO much for having me, Kasey! I'm honored to be a part of your fab Oscars week fashion series! XX
