On the Scene: California Spirit 2013

I am so excited to share with you my recap from the California Spirit event that was held last week at The Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. I had given you all a little tastebud teaser with this article before the event and now I’m back with a warm heart and a full belly! Check out the video below for the yummy coverage and interviews with the chefs!

It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon in the courtyard of the Pacific Design Center. As guests filed in, we were quickly overwhelmed by the array of culinary creations that were put forth by the guest chefs. Restaurants represented at the event included, Chinois on Main, CUT , The Foundry on Melrose, Hotel Bel-Air , Mozza, Nonna of Italy, Patina, Red Seven, RivaBella , Rock Sugar, Spago Beverly Hills, Wolfgang Puck Catering and WP24, just to name a few! Let me take you on a quick journey of the stellar food that was served. For the full album, click here.

The Shrimp Spring Roll from Spago was out of this world.

A fresh and flavorful marinated scallop with compressed watermelon and toasted coconut from Patina.

They had me at burrata. The Foundry was serving up open-faced burrata grilled cheese with tomato jam.

Chef Mohan Ismail of Rock Sugar in Century City was serving up a few signature dishes including their Mango Sticky Rice.

The event concluded by honoring Actress, Host, and Thyroid Cancer survivor, Brooke Burke-Charvet. She spoke about how she looks forward to celebrating her next birthday cancer-free.

As you can tell this garden affair was nothing short of spectacular. The California Spirit event has raised over $15 million to date.
