This weekend I will be attending the American Cancer Society's California Spirit XXIX at the Pacific Design Center. The event is the brainchild of Barbara Lazaroff and Sherry Lansing who have gathered up the top LA restaurateurs and California vintners to share their culinary delights.

The garden-party style event features live entertainment, a VIP reception, spectacular live and silent auctions and hearty samples of LA’s finest cuisine from the kitchens of Chinois on Main, CUT , The Foundry on Melrose, Hotel Bel-Air , Mozza, Nonna of Italy, Patina, Red Seven, RivaBella , Rock Sugar, Spago Beverly Hills, Wolfgang Puck Catering and WP24. Vintners from Bishop's Peak, Bonny Doon Vineyard, Dragonette Cellars, Foxen, Inception, Krupp Brothers, Malibu Vineyards, Rock Sake, Talley Vineyards and Topanga Vineyards will pour their finest reserve.

This year’s auction includes tickets to the American Music Awards; a Playboy Mansion grounds tour; a DIRECTV system with one year "Choice Extra" programming, sports and Rose parade tickets, and a one week-stay at the Westin Lagunamar, Cancun. The event honors John Shaffner and Joe Stewart - Production Design by Shaffner/Stewart ; and Philomena McAndrew, MD and Solomon I. Hamburg, MD, PhD of Tower Hematology Oncology Medical Group. Dancing With the Stars co-host and cancer survivor Brooke Burke-Charvet will receive the Society’s Inspiration Award.
